1 Week... 2 Tunics

More bang for your buck this week as there are 2 tunics to drool over (and purchase!)

This is the official Tunic Tuesdays tunic for this week.

Sized to fit 12-18mths - this itty bitty tunic (measuring 30cm/12inches shoulder to hem) is made from yet another print in the Barbara Jones "Cruzin" collection. With Teal/Emerald tones and Chevrons both on trend for the coming season, I have no idea whilst this little tunic is yet to find a new home. Buy it HERE.

You may recall in a previous post that I pledged to donate a G.D.A.C. tunic to the "Purple Day Auction for Epilepsy Australia" which is being hosted by HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear March 23-26th.

Drum roll puh-leeeeeese.....

This is the final tunic in the Tunic Tuesdays series. A Size 7, Pleated Late Afternoon Tunic made with fabric that has rainbow dots on a lilac damask background.... irresistible I hear you say??? This tunic and other gorgeous items can be found here. The auction is open 23rd-26th March, 2013 and 100% of the proceeds from the winning bid on my tunic will go to Epilepsy Action Australia.

Tunics & Tuesdays... they just go together!!!

Yesterday (Tunic Tuesday) saw a Guest Stitcher join the ranks as a result of the Battle of the Brands vote.

So without further a do... check out HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear's tunic that was released for sale last night.

A Size 4 "Emerald Bliss" 3/4 sleeve tunic with gathered elasticated bands on arms. Contrast yoke and elasticated gathered neckline. I love, love, love this tunic and am absolutely gobsmacked that it's yet to find a new home. If you missed the release last night, you are still able to purchase this pretty little tunic here.

There are just two Tunic Tuesdays (sob, sob) left in the promotion... and BOTH tunics have already had fabric and sizes chosen. A little clue for next week's tunic... I've chosen a print with the COLOUR of the season.

To wrap up Tunic Tuesdays - G.D.A.C. will be donating the last tunic (26/3) to the Purple Day Auction for Epilepsy Action Auction Australia - which will be hosted by none other than HannyLach (thanks Cindy). Keep your eye on the auction album here. This special tunic and other auction items will be available from 23-26 March.

Hippity Hoppity its Tunic Tuesday

With the chocolate gorging season fast approaching us, I thought this week's Tunic Tuesdays tunic should be a little bit Easter and a whole lot of GORGEOUS!!

The Balloon AQUA fabric from Sarah Jane for Michael Miller is universal and ADORABLE!!! Hidden in the sea of balloons are the cutest little bunnies floating away. To amplify the cuteness (is that possible) this week - I've added wooden bunny buttons to accent the front yoke.

You can drool over this week's Size 5 "Balloons" Pleated Late Afternoon Tunic here. This week's tunic comes with a little BONUS (just because) of 2 Bunny hair ties to complete the look and has just been snapped up by one of my favourite customers!

Don't forget, next Tuesday (12th March) the incredibly talented Cindy of HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear will be our Tunic Tuesdays "Guest Stitcher". You can peek at the pretty, pretty fabrics she is looking to stitch here.

Finally, in other news.... Tomorrow at 9pm (AEDST) the Melisa Jane Denim Showcase (as mentioned in The SHOWCASE Showcase post) begins. I feel honoured to be part of this showcase as it includes some AMAZING businesses who have created denim items that are sure to impress (and be snapped up FAST!). Find the showcase album here and a direct link to G.D.A.C.'s item, pictured below, here.

What's Blue and a Size 2???

This week's Tunic Tuesdays tunic of course.

This size 2, pleated late afternoon tunic is made with my new favourite fabric - Pearl Bracelets by Lizzy House for Andover Fabrics. This is the COSMONAUT colourway - which is a rich navy blue. As I blog, this adorable tunic has just been snapped up - but I am always more than happy to offer custom orders for tunics or any of my other products. Simply contact me at G.D.A.C.

More Tunic news....

Last week I gave you the opportunity to vote for a handmade business to be the Tunic Tuesdays Guest Stitcher on March 12th. So, without further a do - the winner, voted by you, is...

HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear

I can't wait to see what Cindy will stitch up... but I hear there is a little sneak peek of fabrics on her page.

What most of you will not know is that my Late Afternoon Tunic was born 12mths ago when I was asked to donate to an auction for Epilepsy (coincidentally hosted by HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear). Once again Cindy is pledging her support for this cause by hosting a Purple Day auction March 23-26 and I am delighted to announce that the Tunic Tuesdays tunic that is due for release on 26/3 (the last week of the Tunic Tuesdays promo) will be donated to that auction... and it will be PURPLE! So don't be affraid to "suggest" a size as 100% of the funds from the winning bid will be donated to Epilepsy Australia.

And just to close - I mentioned in The SHOWCASE Showcase post that I would entering an item in the "Pink & Blue with a Splash of LOVE" showcase being hosted by Handmade Boutique Showcase. Here is my size 4 "Free as a Bird" set - 100% cotton long sleeve tunic, with scalloped hem, snaps at shoulders for easy dressing and cheeky candy pink striped facings. Paired with pink, thin wale-low pile corduroy BG wide leg pants featuring crisp cuffs and button accents.

Tunic Tuesdays - Battle of the Brands!

Just to add to the excitement of Tunic Tuesdays - I've decided to offer a "Guest Stitcher" spot which YOU can vote for. A good poll is a quick poll - so you have just 4 DAYS to vote over there ====>> to decide who will offer up their Tunic Tuesdays Tunic (in their chosen size, style and fabric) on Tuesday March 12th, 2013.

Lets introduce the contenders.

HannyLach Handmade Kids Wear maker of high quality Handmade clothing made for children of all ages and made to measure ladies wear. Cindy's current styles include a number of beautiful girl's dresses and rompers, boy's sets and more recently ladies' dresses and tunics.

Kat's Kids Bitz started with a love of sewing passed down to Kathryn by her very clever and crafty mum. Offering a wide range of children's items, KKB makes clothing for boys and girls, wetbags/swimming bags, cushion covers, bunting, bibs and is looking at creating some softies and dolls later in the year.

Melisa Jane is known for handmade clothing, both for children and ladies, as well as a range of handbags. Melisa has a knack for co-ordinating fabrics in both bold geometrics and soft florals. She offers a signature look with reversible jackets, tailored boys wear and stylish handbags - including overnight bags.

Whoa! Its going to be a tight race between those brands - but I trust your decision - these ladies promise to impress with their take on Tunic Tuesdays.

Finally, just in case you missed this week's Tunic Tuesdays tunic at G.D.A.C. - here is the "Fresh Poppies" tunic. Made in a Size 3 from a beautiful fabric found in Amy Butler's Midwest Modern collection, I have no idea why I haven't stitched more items in this print. This tunic is available to purchase by commenting sold with your email address here.

Another Tuesday.... Another Tunic!

It's Tuesday again.... not just any old Tuesday... Its Tunic Tuesday.

Once again, I've spent hours (if not days) deciding on just the right fabric for this week's Tunic Tuesdays Tunic. I literally laid out ALL my options on the table.... and then stitched this:

A Size 4 Pleated Late Afternoon Tunic - which I'm just a little proud of - its bright, fun and bold with cute little wooden buttons to accent the yoke. I am IN LOVE with this fabric collection - Cruzin - by Barbara Jones for Henry Glass. And to let you in on a little secret..... I have a couple of the other prints from this collection.... perhaps for future Tunic Tuesdays tunics.

This "Cruzin" tunic will be available to purchase at G.D.A.C. from 7pm (AEDST) tonight - simply comment "SOLD" with your email address and this week's Tunic Tuesdays tunic could be on your clothesline by the end of the week.

These tunics are also available for custom orders and can be made in sizes from 6mths to 12yrs.

Tunic Tuesdays - Tunic # 1

Remember my post about Tunic Tuesdays - which is the Feb-Mar promotion at G.D.A.C. ??

A great many people voted for their favourite fabric and I am pleased to announce that VW "Wildfields" in GYPSY from the Wrenly collection won by a landslide! With the fabric selected, I set my sewing machine to CRAZY and stitched up the FIRST Tunic Tuesday tunic.

This was the result... The "Wildfields" Pleated Late Afternoon Tunic (size 6) with 3/4 wide sleeves,  inverted pleat bodice detail, elastic gathered shoulders and a solid yoke. At the time of blogging it is still available here or alternatively, I have more of this fabric available to remake in a different size (tunics are available in sizes 6mths-12yrs). Feel free to drop me an email gdacorders@gmail.com or use the CONTACT BUTTON on my Facebook page.

The next Tunic Tuesdays tunic will be available at 7pm (AEDST) on Tuesday 12th February, 2013.

Be sure to follow all the Tunic Tuesdays action at G.D.A.C.

Tunic Tuesdays.... start NOW!

WOW! Its February ALREADY - which means my Tunic Tuesdays at G.D.A.C. start THIS WEEK (Tues Feb 5th!).

So what is Tunic Tuesdays you ask? Every Tuesday (Feb-Mar) I will be offering 1 Ready to Post tunic in the above style in a different size and fabric each week.

Being the FIRST week... I'm a little nervous (read scared out of my pants) - I want to choose the right size & fabric combo to kick off the promo. So I've narrowed my (vast) selection down to 2 fabrics.

If you'd like to offer a little input into the inaugural Tunic Tuesday tunic, comment here before 12 noon (Perth time) Monday 4th Feb. Your assistance will be much appreciated!

The SHOWCASE Showcase

Oooooooh long time no blog...... sorry.... I'm still about! Whilst mother nature did try her best to melt us over the Christmas/New Year period (like icecubes under a magnifying glass in the sun) she did not succeed!!

Over the break I made a conscious decision to get my little orange t-shirt business (G.D.A.C) OUT THERE. I've done a little planning of promotions (Tunic Tuesday) and I've jumped on board a number of showcases.

I do like Showcases - it gives me the chance to experiment and make items with lots of details because they are OOAK and will not necessarily be a regular stock item.

First showcase... "Sew" You Say Handmade Markets - the "Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows" Showcase. I found the PERRRRRFECT fabric and agonised over just what to make from it because you can NEVER undo the first cut. Eventually, I decided on this "Lollipop Magic" dress... in a size 2-3, it sold without any issues (SUCCESS!!!)

The next Showcase (and currently running I might add) is "The Princess and The Pirate" Showcase over at Audrey Elizabeth. Not wanting to leave out either demographic from the theme, I've submitted one  Pirate option (find it here)

And of course, a Princess option (find it here)

Two more showcases have been booked in for February:

And just one little showcase so far for March, the "Denim" Showcase that will be hosted by Melisa Jane on Mar 6th. This one has me just a tad excited - I love the structure you can stitch up when using denim... and I've already got my materials picked out.

Be sure to "like" G.D.A.C. so you don't miss out on any of these and upcoming Showcase items featuring that little orange t-shirt!
